About Us

Carole Nichols has a passion for choral music, and a desire to see that passion grow in the hearts of
the singers whom she directs.  From 2000-2009, she taught General Music and Choir to elementary
and intermediate students in Keller ISD.  One of her goals as director is for every singer to feel
successful and become more self-confident as they learn.  In addition to the Lone Star Children's
Choir, Mrs. Nichols teaches voice and piano lessons in her private studio, is involved in music
ensembles at her church, and teaches music classes to home school students in the area.  She earned
her Bachelor of Music Education degree with a Vocal and Piano emphasis from Baylor University.
Founder and Artistic Director
LSCC Board of Directors
Becky Compton - Chairperson
As an officer of the Board of Directors for Lone Star Children’s Choir, Mrs. Compton feels a strong desire to support the
artistic director in any way, with positive feedback and new ideas to help grow the program.  She feels honored to work
with a dynamic group of Board Members and looks forward to what the future holds for this organization.  Mrs. Compton
earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music from North Texas University.  Currently the Music Specialist at North Riverside
Elementary, she has 15 years of teaching experience in Irving & Keller ISD.  She belongs to the Texas Music Educators
Association and Texas Choral Directors Association.

Kristy Reeves – Vice Chairperson
Ms. Reeves became a member of the Board of Directors through serving as the Parent Liaison for LSCC.  Her 13 year
old son, Alex, participated in Lone Star Children’s Choir for the past two years.  Ms. Reeves believes that Alex benefited
from all that LSCC has to offer, including the opportunity to build self-confidence and team work skills. Ms. Reeves is
currently employed at TD Ameritrade as a relationship manager and has prior experience with Lowe's and Home Depot.
She attended Texas Tech University majoring in elementary education and also attended American Broadcasting
Studios for radio broadcasting.

Valerie Reinke
Mrs. Reinke is beginning her third year as Secretary for the LSCC Board of Directors.  She has served as the Christian
Education Director for St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church since 2009 where she enjoys cultivating relationships with
outstanding local arts organizations like the Lone Star Children’s Choir.  A California transplant, Mrs. Reinke received
her BA from UCLA and her MA from the University of California, Riverside.  She lives in Keller with her husband and two
children.

David Toledo
Rev. David Toledo is a new member of the LSCC Board of Directors.  He is supporting the choir in this way because he
loves seeing people of all ages discover the joy of singing in choirs and enjoys investing in the lives of future music
leaders.  Rev. Toledo completed his Masters of Music in Music Ministry in 2007 and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary working on his dissertation.  He has been on staff at First Baptist Church,
Keller, since 2000, and is currently the Associate Pastor of Worship and Creative Arts, where he directs various choral
and instrumental ensembles, oversees the FBC Fine Arts Academy, and leads the congregation in weekly worship. Rev.
Toledo resides in Keller with his wife, Lindsey, and son, Will.
